You must use Acrobat 8.x or earlier to use this type of ID. 2.1.4 Digital ID Management and the Security Settings Console The Security Settings Console enables users to manage their own digital IDs. Choosing Advanced (Acrobat) or Document (Reader) > Security Settings opens a dialog for adding, removing, and setting the usage preferences for digital IDs stored on .pfx files, PKCS#11 modules and tokens, roaming ID servers, and the Windows Certificate Store. Tip: You should always back up your private key if you have access to it. Without the key, encrypted documents cannot be decrypted and opened. To protect and back up private keys in an enterprise setting, administrators sometimes escrow private keys. If your digital ID is stored in a file on your local machine, consider copying it to a secure location.
