PAGE PROTECTION CHAPTER 4 CONTROL PANEL  Note The setting in this mode menu is effective in the HP PCL5C, EPSON FX850, IBM Proprinter XL and HP-GL modes. It does not appear in the BRScript 2 mode. If print images are too complex to print, the printer may print them in parts or only on part of the page. If this occurs, the printer loses print data and shows a message on the LCD panel. The page protection function reserves additional memory so that the printer can create the entire page image in memory before physically printing it. This function can be set for 330 x 483mm (13"x19"), Ledger, letter, A3, A4 or legal size paper. Select the paper size for page protection. Display Message PROTECT=AUTO PROTECT=LETTER PROTECT=A4 PROTECT=LEGAL PROTECT=OFF Page Protection Page protection on only when it is necessary. Page protection off To protect pages, your printer will need the minimum memory shown in the following table: Protection Off Letter or A4 Legal 600 dpi Color 16 Mbytes 20 Mbytes 24 Mbytes  Note When you use the page protection function, note the following: • If the function setting is changed, all download fonts and macros- including permanent ones-are cleared.
