CHAPTER 4 CONTROL PANEL Basic Operating Procedures When you operate the Mode button, remember the following basic steps: 1. Press the Sel button to take the printer off-line. 2. Press the Mode button to enter the MODE menus. • Press the v or w button to scroll forward or backward through the menus. (Pressing the Mode button allows you to scroll forward.) INTERFACE MODE ←w or v→ FORMAT MODE ←w or v→ RESOLUTION MODE ←w or v→ ... • Press the Set button to enter the next lower level of the selected menu. Mode Menu Press SET→ Setting Menu Press SET→ Sub- Setting Menu • Press the v or w button to select the setting on the display. I/F=PARALLEL ←w or v→ I/F=RS-232C ←w or v→ I/F=OPTION ←w or v→ ... • Press the Set button to make the selected setting effective. When you see "exit" and press the Set button, you can exit from the current menu to the next higher level of the menu. 3. Advance to "exit MODE" and press the Set button to exit from the mode menus to the off-line ready state. Pressing the Sel button any time while in any menu level allows you to exit from the menus mode to the on-line state. The selections you made with the Set button before exiting are now effective. 4-17
