Cleaning the Printer 2 Clean the platen. The platen, which holds the paper in position during ink transfer, may be soiled after a paper jam or other paper feed problems. When the platen is soiled with ink, the back or edge of the printed sheet may be smudged. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the platen clean. Clean the platen.
The platen, which holds the paper in position during ink transfer, may be
