Configure IPv6 routing for IP hosts to communicate with one another in the same network, or in different networks. Enable or disable IPv6 By default: • IPv6 forwarding is enabled on front-panel Ethernet interfaces, VLANs, and port groups. IPv6 forwarding is disabled only when you enable IPv6 address autoconfiguration on an interface and set it in host mode (ipv6 address autoconfig). • IPv6 forwarding is permanently disabled on the management Ethernet interface so that it remains in Host mode and does not operate as a router regardless of the ipv6 address autoconfig setting. If necessary, you can manually disable IPv6 processing on an interface so that the configured IPv6 addresses do not take effect. The IPv6 addresses take effect again when you re-enable IPv6. If you disable IPv6 and configure a L2 interface in L3 mode, IPv6 is not automatically re-enabled on the interface. You must manually reenable it. A link-local address is automatically generated when you re-enable IPv6 on an interface with the ipv6 enable command.
