using the automatic paper-type sensor availability The Automatic Paper-Type Sensor is available to be used for documents printed from the upper tray in any print quality mode other than Draft. The Automatic Paper-Type Sensor is not operational for documents printed in Draft mode or from the 250-Sheet Plain Paper Tray. For instructions on using the Automatic Paper-Type Sensor, select the appropriate option below: My computer runs Mac OS 8.6 or 9.04+ -or- I am using a Mac OS 9.04+ application on a Mac OS X v10.1+ computer I am using an application built for Mac OS X v10.1+ Mac OS 8.6, 9.04+, and Mac OS X Classic Mac OS X v10.1+ Mac OS 8.6, 9.04+, and Mac OS X Classic turning on the automatic paper-type sensor Open the Print dialog box and choose the following settings: panel setting General Source: Upper Tray or Automatic Paper Type/Quality Paper Group: Automatic Quality: Best, Normal, or Fast Normal If Automatic is selected as the paper tray, verify that the upper tray contains paper. If the upper tray is empty, the Automatic Paper-Type Sensor is not operational for that print job. 67
