Smart Array cables To connect the cable option: 1. Power down the server (on page 18). 2. Remove all power: a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source. b. Disconnect each power cord from the server. 3. Do one of the following: o Extend the server from the rack (on page 18). o Remove the server from the rack (on page 20). 4. Remove the access panel (on page 21). 5. Remove the air baffle (on page 22). 6. Install the storage controller ("Storage controller installation guidelines" on page 47). 7. Connect the Smart Array cables to the storage controller. 8. Route the Smart Array cables along the side of the system board towards the front chassis, and then connect them to the drive backplane: o Cable routing from the primary PCI riser cage o Cable routing from the secondary PCI riser cage (optional) Hardware options installation 45

To connect the cable option:

Do one of the following:

Remove the server from the rack (on page

6.
Install the storage controller ("

).
7.
Connect the Smart Array cables to the storage controller.
8.
Route the Smart Array cables along the side of the system board towards the front chassis, and then
connect them to the drive backplane:

o
Cable routing from the secondary PCI riser cage (optional)
