BASIC OPERATIONS 4 ■ Adjusting the volume/squelch/backlight/display mode D Adjusting the volume level 1  Rotate [VOL] to adjust the audio volume level. 2 D Adjusting the squelch level Squelch enables the audio to be heard only while receiving a signal that is stronger than 3 the set level. A higher level blocks weak signals, so that you can receive only stronger signals. A lower level enables you to hear weak signals. 4  Rotate [SQL] to adjust the squelch level. 5 D Adjusting the backlight and the display mode The Function display and keys can be backlit for better visibility under low light conditions. 6 And, you can set the display mode to Day mode or Night mode. The Day mode is for the daytime operation, and the screen items are in full color. 7 The Night mode is for the nighttime operation, and the screen items are in black and red. 1. Open the "Backlight" screen. 8 [MENU] > Settings > Configuration > Backlight 9 L You can also push Backlight to open the "Backlight" popup screen. 10 2. Push [◄] or [►] or rotate [CH/ENT] to adjust the backlight level. 11 • The backlight level is set, and the transceiver returns to the previous screen. 12 L The backlight level is adjustable in 7 levels and "OFF." Adjusting the volume level
Rotate [VOL] to adjust the audio volume level.

Adjusting the squelch level
Squelch enables the audio to be heard only while receiving a signal that is stronger than
the set level. A higher level blocks weak signals, so that you can receive only stronger
signals. A lower level enables you to hear weak signals.
Rotate [SQL] to adjust the squelch level.

Adjusting the backlight and the display mode
The Function display and keys can be backlit for better visibility under low light conditions.
And, you can set the display mode to Day mode or Night mode.
The Day mode is for the daytime operation, and the screen items are in full color.
The Night mode is for the nighttime operation, and the screen items are in black and red.

Open the “Backlight” screen.
[MENU] > Settings > Configuration >

You can also push

to open the “Backlight”
popup screen.

Push [◄] or [►] or rotate [CH/ENT] to adjust the
backlight level.
The backlight level is set, and the transceiver returns to
the previous screen.
