Remove the PCI riser assembly. For instructions, see "Removing the PCI Riser Assembly" on page 43. 2. Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see "Removing the Processor Air Duct" on page 48. 3. Remove the heatsink. For instructions, see "Removing the Heatsink" on page 57. 4. Unplug the processor fan cable from the server board. 5. Open the processor socket lever (see Figure 36). 6. Open the CPU load plate (see Figure 37). 7. Remove the processor. 8. If installing a replacement processor, see "Installing the Processor" on page 52. Removing the Processor
To remove the processor, follow these steps:
1.
Remove the PCI riser assembly. For instructions, see
“Removing the PCI Riser
Assembly” on page 43
.
2.
Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see
“Removing the Processor Air
Duct” on page 48
.
3.
Remove the heatsink. For instructions, see
“Removing the Heatsink” on page 57
.
4.
Unplug the processor fan cable from the server board.
5.
Open the processor socket lever (see
Figure 36
).
6.
Open the CPU load plate (see
Figure 37
).
7.
Remove the processor.
8.
If installing a replacement processor, see
“Installing the Processor” on page 52
.
Otherwise, install the protective socket cover over the empty processor socket.
