Chapter 22 Product Specifications Table 47 Firmware Specifications FEATURE DESCRIPTION MAC Address Filter Filter traffic based on the source MAC address and VLAN group (ID). IGMP Snooping The Switch supports IGMP snooping, enabling group multicast traffic to be only forwarded to ports that are members of that group; thus allowing you to significantly reduce multicast traffic passing through your Switch. Queuing Queuing is used to help solve performance degradation when there is network congestion. The following scheduling services are supported: Strict Priority Queuing (SPQ) and Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ). This allows the Switch to maintain separate queues for packets from each individual source or flow and prevent a source from monopolizing the bandwidth. Bandwidth Control Bandwidth control means defining a maximum allowable bandwidth for incoming and/or out-going traffic flows on a port. Broadcast Storm Control Broadcast storm control limits the number of broadcast packets the Switch receives per second on the ports. Static Route Static routes tell the Switch how to forward IP traffic when you configure the TCP/IP parameters manually. Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) is designed for applications (such as Media-on-Demand (MoD)) using multicast traffic across a network. MVR allows one single multicast VLAN to be shared among different subscriber VLANs on the network. This improves bandwidth utilization by reducing multicast traffic in the subscriber VLANs and simplifies multicast group management. Device Management Use the web configurator or commands to easily configure the rich range of features on the Switch. Syslog The Switch can generate syslog messages and send it to a syslog server. Firmware Upgrade Download new firmware (when available) from the ZyXEL web site and use the web configurator, CLI or an FTP/TFTP tool to put it on the Switch. Configuration Backup & Restoration Note: Only upload firmware for your specific model! Make a copy of the Switch's configuration and put it back on the Switch later if you decide you want to revert back to an earlier configuration. MAC Address Filter
Filter traffic based on the source MAC address and VLAN group (ID).
IGMP Snooping
The Switch supports IGMP snooping, enabling group multicast traffic to
be only forwarded to ports that are members of that group; thus allowing
you to significantly reduce multicast traffic passing through your Switch.
Queuing
Queuing is used to help solve performance degradation when there is
network congestion. The following scheduling services are supported:
Strict Priority Queuing (SPQ) and Weighted Fair Queuing (WFQ). This
allows the Switch to maintain separate queues for packets from each
individual source or flow and prevent a source from monopolizing the
bandwidth.
Bandwidth Control
Bandwidth control means defining a maximum allowable bandwidth for
incoming and/or out-going traffic flows on a port.
Broadcast Storm Control
Broadcast storm control limits the number of broadcast packets the
Switch receives per second on the ports.
Static Route
Static routes tell the Switch how to forward IP traffic when you configure
the TCP/IP parameters manually.
Multicast VLAN Registration
(MVR)
Multicast VLAN Registration (MVR) is designed for applications (such as
Media-on-Demand (MoD)) using multicast traffic across a network. MVR
allows one single multicast VLAN to be shared among different
subscriber VLANs on the network.
This improves bandwidth utilization by reducing multicast traffic in the
subscriber VLANs and simplifies multicast group management.
Device Management
Use the web configurator or commands to easily configure the rich range
of features on the Switch.
Syslog
The Switch can generate syslog messages and send it to a syslog
server.
Firmware Upgrade
Download new firmware (when available) from the ZyXEL web site and
use the web configurator, CLI or an FTP/TFTP tool to put it on the
Switch.
Note: Only upload firmware for your specific model!
Configuration Backup &
Restoration
Make a copy of the Switch’s configuration and put it back on the Switch
later if you decide you want to revert back to an earl
i
er configuration.
