System Security 5-3 Establishing a Power-On Password 1. Turn on the workstation. 2. When the F10 = Setup message appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, press F10. NOTE: You have approximately 30 seconds to press F10. If you do not press F10 while the message is displayed, you must restart the workstation to access the utility. 3. From the main menu, select Security, then Power-On Password and follow the instructions on the screen. 4. Save the configuration and exit the utility. 5. Restart the workstation. Entering the Setup or Power-On Password To enter the Setup or Power-On Password: 1. Turn on the workstation. 2. When the key icon ( ) appears, type your current password carefully, then press Enter. NOTE: Type carefully; for security reasons, the characters you type do not appear on the screen. If you enter the password incorrectly, a broken key icon ( ) appears. Try again. After three unsuccessful tries, you will be allowed to view the current computer settings, but you will not be able to edit or change the settings. If you only want to view the current computer settings, press Enter.

Establishing a Power-On Password
1.
Turn on the workstation.
2.
When the
F10 = Setup
message appears in the lower-right corner of the screen, press
F10.
NOTE:
You have approximately 30 seconds to press
F10.
If you do not press
F10
while the message is
displayed, you must restart the workstation to access the utility.
3.
From the main menu, select Security, then Power-On Password
and follow the instructions
on the screen.
4.
Save the configuration and exit the utility.
5.
Restart the workstation.

To enter the Setup or Power-On Password:

Turn on the workstation.
2.

) appears, type your current password carefully, then press
Enter.
NOTE:
