3 Chapter Installing Hardware Options Compaq recommends that you use the documentation provided with the hardware options for complete installation instructions in addition to the instructions in this chapter. WARNING: Because of the risk of personal injury and/or damage to the equipment, the installation of options other than hot-plug power supplies and hot-plug hard drives should be performed only by persons qualified in servicing computer equipment and trained on products capable of producing hazardous energy levels. This chapter is divided into two major sections: Non-Hot-Plug Area Access - This section covers the procedures for accessing areas in which the server power must be shut down by removing the power cords to install options, upgrades, or replacements. These areas include: processor and processor power module (PPM) slots, system board, memory board and DIMM sockets, peripheral board, and one shared PCI/ISA slot. NOTE: The ISA slot is for modem use only.
