Installing Hardware Options 3-3 Installing a Processor and Processor Power Module (PPM) The ProLiant 6400R server ships with at least one processor, one Processor Power Module (PPM) installed, and up to three processor terminator modules. The server can support up to four processors and four PPMs. 1 2 Figure 3-1. Processor and Processor Power Module To install a processor and a PPM , use the following installation procedure: 1. Back up the server data. 2. Shut down the operating system as directed in the operating system instructions. 3. If the server is on, set the power switch to standby. 4. Verify that the first system LED on the front panel, located nearest the Power On/Standby switch, turns off and that all fans stop spinning. WARNING: Before removing the top access panel, be sure that the power switch is in the standby position and that the power cord is disconnected from the electrical outlet.
