5-6 Compaq ProLiant 6400R Setup and Installation Guide Compaq promotes standardization with operating system software leaders to ensure the broad availability of PCI Hot Plug technology. However, each operating system supplier is responsible for its own implementation of the software, including the interface. Novell intraNetWare Configuration Manager Console The Novell Configuration Manager Console (NCMCON) user interface enables you to view status information on PCI slots and control features, such as removing and replacing all PCI Hot Plug adapters from one focal point. Navigating the NCMCON Menus The NCMCON Interface constantly retrieves and displays the status of all the slots. If an error occurs, an appropriate error message is displayed. To navigate through these menus, use the following guidelines: 1. From the Main menu, use the arrow keys to move up and down the list of slots. The current line is highlighted. 2. Press Enter to go to the Slot Options menu. Use the arrow keys to highlight the correct option, and press Enter to select it. If you press Enter when a non-hot-plug slot is highlighted, the Slot Detail screen is displayed. At any point, if you want to return to the Main menu, press Esc. 3. Press F1 for online help. Performing Hot-Plug Actions The Compaq PCI Hot Plug and the intraNetWare PCI Hot Plug application enable the following hot-plug actions: Hot Removal of Adapters - You can manually shut down and permanently remove an adapter, regardless of whether it is working or has failed. Hot Replacement of Adapters - You can replace a failed adapter with an identical adapter. This command applies power to and configures the slot. View Slot Detail Information - You can view detailed information about each PCI slot.
