Managing the SAN Switch 2/16 Displaying Devices within the Fabric To verify that you have fabric-wide connectivity when you install a new switch, display the fabric-wide device count from the newly installed switch. Use these steps to display the fabric. 1. Log in to the switch as the admin user. 2. At the command line, enter the following command: nsAllShow This command displays all the connected devices in the fabric. Checking the Firmware Version Use these steps to display the firmware version. 1. Log in to the switch as the admin user. 2. At the command line, enter the following command: version This command displays the Kernel version, and Fabric OS release number. Setting the Switch Date and Time All switches maintain current date and time in non-volatile memory. Date and time are used for logging events. Switch operation does not depend on the date and time; a switch with an incorrect date and time value still functions properly. Uses these steps to set the date and time of a switch. 1. Log into the switch as the admin user. 2. Displaying Devices within the Fabric
To verify that you have fabric-wide connectivity when you install a new switch,
display the fabric-wide device count from the newly installed switch. Use these
steps to display the fabric.
1.
Log in to the switch as the admin user.
2.
At the command line, enter the following command:
nsAllShow
This command displays all the connected devices in the fabric.
Checking the Firmware Version
Use these steps to display the firmware version.

Log in to the switch as the admin user.
2.
At the command line, enter the following command:
version
This command displays the Kernel version, and Fabric OS release number.
Setting the Switch Date and Time
All switches maintain current date and time in non-volatile memory. Date and
time are used for logging events. Switch operation does not depend on the date
and time; a switch with an incorrect date and time value still functions properly.
Uses these steps to set the date and time of a switch.
1.
Log into the switch as the admin user.
2.
At the command line, enter the following command:
date "MMDDhhmmYY"
where:
MM is the month, valid values are 01–12.
DD is the date, valid values are 01–31.
hh is the hour, valid values are 00–23.
mm is minutes, valid values are 00–59.
YY is the year, valid values are 00–99.
