Align the flex cable connectors with the connectors of the I/O board. Press firmly to seat the connectors. It requires considerable pressure to fully seat the connectors. Carefully inspect the connection to ensure that the connectors are fully seated. 3. Repeat step 2 for the system board side of the flex cable. NOTE The flex cable and connectors are symmetrical and can be installed in either orientation. 4. Fit the cable retainer over the flex cable. The retainer should fit snugly against the flex cable with the ejector handles fitting into the four slots in the retainer. If the retainer does not slip over the flex cable, the flex cable is not connected properly. Chapter 2 25

Set the flex cable on top of the divider that separates the system board from the I/O
board.
2. Align the flex cable connectors with the connectors of the I/O board. Press firmly to seat
the connectors. It requires considerable pressure to fully seat the connectors. Carefully
inspect the connection to ensure that the connectors are fully seated.
3.
Repeat step 2 for the system board side of the flex cable.
NOTE
The flex cable and connectors are symmetrical and can be installed in either
orientation.
4. Fit the cable retainer over the flex cable. The retainer should fit snugly against the flex
cable with the ejector handles fitting into the four slots in the retainer. If the retainer
does not slip over the flex cable, the flex cable is not connected properly.
