Using the printer menus Values: Off On* Disables parallel port negotiation. Enables bidirectional communication through the parallel interface. Protocol Purpose: To specify the parallel interface protocol. Values: Standard Fastbytes* May resolve some parallel interface problems. Provides compatibility with most existing parallel interface implementations (recommended setting). See also: Technical Reference Honor Init Purpose: To determine whether the printer honors hardware initialization requests from the computer. The computer requests initialization by activating the INIT signal on the parallel interface. Many personal computers activate the INIT signal each time the computer is turned on and off. Values: Off* On Printer does not honor hardware initialization requests from the computer. Printer honors hardware initialization requests from the computer. Parallel Mode 1 Purpose: To control the pull-up resistors on the parallel port signals. This menu item is useful for personal computers that have open collector outputs on the parallel port signals. 251
