Chapter 5 Spanning Tree Protocol Commands This section describes the spanning tree protocol (STP) commands available in the 7200 Series Managed Switch CLI. STP helps prevent network loops, duplicate messages, and network instability. The STP Commands section includes the following topics: • Section 5.1 "STP Configuration Commands" on page 5-1 • Section 5.2 "STP Show Commands" on page 5-10 The commands in this section are in one of two functional groups: • Show commands display switch settings, statistics, and other information. • Configuration commands configure features and options of the switch. For every configuration command, there is a show command that displays the configuration setting. 5.1 STP Configuration Commands This section describes the commands you use to configure Spanning Tree Protocol (STP). Note: STP is enabled by default. If STP is disabled, the system does not generate BPDU messages. 5.1.1 spanning-tree This command sets the spanning-tree operational mode to enabled.
