A shutter door protects this port. The spring-loaded main battery release latch locks and unlocks the battery module, which holds the main battery in place. The removable main battery module powers the computer when you're away from an AC power source. Using the main battery, you can work without an external power source. For more information about inserting or removing the main battery, see "Changing the main battery" on page 87. The speaker allows you to hear sounds, such as system alarms or audio files played on optional media devices. The expansion memory slot cover protects the slot that holds any extra memory added to your computer. For more information on expanding your computer's memory, see "Installing additional memory (optional)" on page 40. The hard disk drive cover protects the slot that holds the hard disk drive.
