Configure uplink failure detection Consider the following before configuring an uplink-state group: ● An uplink-state group is considered to be operationally up if it has at least one upstream interface in the Link-Up state. ● An uplink-state group is considered to be operationally down if it has no upstream interfaces in the Link-Up state. ● You can assign a physical port or a port channel to an uplink-state group. ● You can assign an interface to only one uplink-state group at a time. ● You can designate the uplink-state group as either an upstream or downstream interface, but not both. ● You can configure multiple uplink-state groups and operate them concurrently. ● You cannot assign both a port channel and its members to an uplink-state group, which would make the group inactive. The port channels and individual ports that are not part of any port channel can coexist as members of an uplink-state group. ● If one of the upstream interfaces in an uplink-state group goes down, you can set the downstream ports in an operationally down state with an UFD Disabled error status. You can configure the system to disable either a user-configurable set of downstream ports or all the downstream ports in the group. ● The downstream ports are disabled in order starting from the lowest numbered port to the highest numbered port. ● When an upstream interface in an uplink-state group that was down comes up, the set of UFD-disabled downstream ports that were down due to that particular upstream interface are brought up, and the UFD Disabled error clears in those downstream ports. ● If you disable an uplink-state group, the downstream interfaces are not disabled, regardless of the state of the upstream interfaces. Configure uplink failure detection

Consider the following before configuring an uplink-state group:

●

An uplink-state group is considered to be operationally up if it has at least one upstream interface in the Link-Up state.

●

An uplink-state group is considered to be operationally down if it has no upstream interfaces in the Link-Up state.

●

You can assign a physical port or a port channel to an uplink-state group.

●

You can assign an interface to only one uplink-state group at a time.

●

You can designate the uplink-state group as either an upstream or downstream interface, but not both.

●

You can configure multiple uplink-state groups and operate them concurrently.

●

You cannot assign both a port channel and its members to an uplink-state group, which would make the group inactive. The

port channels and individual ports that are not part of any port channel can coexist as members of an uplink-state group.

●

If one of the upstream interfaces in an uplink-state group goes down, you can set the downstream ports in an operationally

down state with an

UFD Disabled error

status. You can configure the system to disable either a user-configurable set of

downstream ports or all the downstream ports in the group.

●

The downstream ports are disabled in order starting from the lowest numbered port to the highest numbered port.

●

When an upstream interface in an uplink-state group that was down comes up, the set of UFD-disabled downstream ports

that were down due to that particular upstream interface are brought up, and the

UFD Disabled error

clears in those

downstream ports.

●

If you disable an uplink-state group, the downstream interfaces are not disabled, regardless of the state of the upstream

interfaces.
