7. Clean the encoder wheel with a cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Carefully raise the encoder straight up on its rail. This will cause the media drive belt to move automaticallly. Fig. 6-3. The encoder should slide smoothly up and down; if not, inspect the assembly for misaligned parts or wires that are in the way. 9. Reattach the cover with the four screws. Avoid pinching any wires when reattaching the cover. Carefully align the cover straight over the encoder assembly. Do not allow the cover or the screwdriver to touch the encoder wheel. Caution The media drive belt encoder is a high-precision electronic instrument that is easily damaged. Use extreme caution when cleaning and handling the encoder assembly. 10. Clean the encoder wheel with a cloth moistened with isopro-

Carefully raise the encoder straight up on its rail. This will
cause the media drive belt to move automaticallly.

When it is clean, lower the encoder wheel back down slowly
to avoid damaging it.
The encoder should slide smoothly up and down; if not,
inspect the assembly for misaligned parts or wires that are in
the way.

Reattach the cover with the four screws.
Avoid pinching any wires when reattaching the cover. Care-
fully align the cover straight over the encoder assembly. Do
not allow the cover or the screwdriver to touch the encoder
wheel.

Close the access door.
