Cleaning the Machine CAUTION For safety purposes, ALWAYS remove the power plug from the outlet when performing cleaning operations. q Cleaning the original cover If smudges on copies frequently appear, clean the contact glass and the original transport rollers. IMPORTANT • If the dust on the contact glass cannot be removed, wipe the glass with a cloth moistened with water or weak neutral detergent. • Never use thinner or other solvents. 1 Open the original cover so that cleaning can be performed easily. 3 Wipe the feed rollers while turning the original transport rollers with your hand. 4 Wipe the contact glass and the original transport rollers with a soft, dry cloth. 2 Moisten a soft cloth with water, wring the water out of the cloth, and wipe the contact glass with it. IMPORTANT • Wipe away all mist from glass parts. 5 Gently close the original cover. 9-1

1. Cleaning the Machine
CAUTION

IMPORTANT
• If the dust on the contact glass cannot be removed, wipe the glass

Open the original cover so that cleaning can be performed
easily.
Moisten a soft cloth with water, wring the water out of the
cloth, and wipe the contact glass with it.
Wipe the feed rollers while turning the original transport
rollers with your hand.
Wipe the contact glass and the original transport rollers with
a soft, dry cloth.
IMPORTANT
• Wipe away all mist from glass parts.
Gently close the original cover.
