You can create an IBM Enhanced Diagnostics diskette from: The Product Recovery CD. The Device Driver and IBM Enhanced Diagnostics CD. The World Wide Web (http://www.ibm.com/pc/support) by downloading the diskette image. These diagnostic programs run independently of the operating system and will help isolate your computer hardware from software that was preinstalled (or that you have installed) on your hard disk. Use the IBM Enhanced Diagnostics to diagnose and isolate hardware problems. You can use this program to test the hardware (and some software) components of your computer. This method of testing is generally used when other methods are not accessible or have not been successful in isolating a problem suspected to be hardware related. To start the IBM Enhanced Diagnostics program from the Product Recovery CD or the Device Driver and IBM Enhanced Diagnostics CD, you might need to change the primary startup sequence to use CD-ROM as the First Startup Device. For instructions to change the startup sequence, see "Setting the startup sequence" on page 48 To run diagnostics from the Product Recovery CD: 1. Place the Product Recovery CD in the CD-ROM drive and turn on the computer. 2. The Main menu displays. 3. Select System utilities. 4. In the System utilities menu, select Run Diagnostics. 5. The IBM Enhanced Diagnostics program is started. 6. When you finish running the diagnostic program, remove the CD from the CD-ROM drive, and turn off the computer. 7. If you changed the startup sequence, restore it to the original settings. To run diagnostics from the Device Driver and IBM Enhanced Diagnostics CD: 1. Place the Device Driver and IBM Enhanced Diagnostics CD in the CD-ROM drive and turn on your computer. 2. A menu appears with a selection to run IBM Enhanced Diagnostics. 3.
