4045-XXX Pick roll fails to feed paper. FRU 1 Pick Roll 2 Pick Roll Solenoid Action Check the pick roll for signs of wear and correct installation. Replace as necessary. Check the solenoid for correct operation and installation. Use the Solenoid Test in the Hardware Test Mode to check operation. Replace as necessary. Printer continually feeds paper. FRU 1 Pick Roll Solenoid 2 Pick Roll Shaft Assembly Action Check the solenoid for correct operation and installation. Use the Solenoid Test in the Hardware Test Mode to check operation. Replace as necessary. Inspect the cam surface of the pick roller shaft assembly to make sure the solenoid actuator correctly interlocks with the cam. Replace the pick roll shaft assembly if the cam is worn. Paper feed failures occur only near the top of the stack of paper. The most common cause of this problem is paper curl. Remove the paper from tray x and check for the natural curvature in the paper. Reinstall the paper in the correct manner. If the problem persists, it may be necessary to reduce the stack height. Replace the pick roll if the paper appears to be flat in the tray but there is still a problem. Failures occur mainly near the bottom of the stack of paper. Check the paper tray lift plate for proper operation. A fatigued lift plate spring can cause paper feed problems near the bottom of the stack. 2-34 Service Manual
