Troubleshooting guide Operation The remote control does not work. ¾ The remote control and main unit are using different codes. Change the code on the remote control. Unit's display Press and hold [OK] and the indicated number button at the same time for more than 5 seconds. (> 78) ¾ Software (firmware) is updating when "UPD /" is displaying on the unit's display. Wait until the update is completed. (> 81) ¾ The HOLD function is activated. (> 20) The unit is on but cannot be operated. ¾ Drive has not been selected properly. Cannot tune channels. ¾ Check the connections. Startup is slow. ¾ Startup takes time in the following situations: -The clock is not set. -Immediately after a power failure or the AC mains lead is connected. -When the "Power Save in Standby" is activated. (> 78) Recording, timer recording and copying Cannot record. ¾ Some broadcasts are copyright protected. Timer recording does not work properly. ¾ Refer to "Notes on timer recording" (> 36) ¾ Failed timer recordings are displayed in grey with on the Timer Recording screen. (> 35) When you programme a timer recording, check the screen icons. If "!" is displayed, this timer programme may not be recorded because: -there is not enough space left. -the number of possible titles has reached its maximum. -programmes are deactivated, etc. A part or whole of a recorded title has been lost. ¾ If there is a power failure or the AC mains lead is disconnected from the household mains socket while recording or editing, the title may be lost or the HDD may become unusable. We cannot offer any guarantee regarding lost programmes. Auto Renewal Recording does not work properly. ¾ The programme will not be overwritten in the following cases: -the programme is protected -any programme is being played back -a screen such as DIRECT NAVIGATOR is displayed Instead, the programme will be saved as a separate programme and that will be overwritten. Play You have forgotten your PIN number for parental control. ¾ Refer to "To reset the PIN number for parental control". (> 92) Image for the Quick View is not smooth. ¾ Image may not be played back smoothly in case of titles recorded with HD quality or AVCHD format titles.
