Restricting Machine Functions According to User Restricting Machine Functions According to User You can set the machine to require a user code when someone tries to use certain machine functions. • When print jobs are restricted, you can only authenticate through the PCL6 printer driver. Printing from the PostScript 3 printer driver will not be possible. • User restriction settings can be used in combination with LDAP authentication, except for printing using the PCL6 printer driver and sending LAN-Faxes. Under LDAP authentication, users will only be able to authenticate for PCL6 printing and LAN-Faxes using user names and passwords for the LDAP server, not user codes for the user restriction settings. Use of the following functions can be restricted: • Copying • Sending faxes • Scan to E-mail/FTP/Folder • Scan to USB • Printing • Sending faxes via LAN-Fax To enable this setting, you must first configure the machine via Web Image Monitor. • For details about LDAP authentication, see p.439 "Using the LDAP Authentication and Address Search Functions". Enabling the User Restriction Settings This section describes how to set the machine to permit only authorized users to use certain machine functions. You can set the machine to require a user code when someone tries to use certain machine functions.

•

When print jobs are restricted, you can only authenticate through the PCL6 printer driver. Printing

from the PostScript 3 printer driver will not be possible.

•

User restriction settings can be used in combination with LDAP authentication, except for printing

using the PCL6 printer driver and sending LAN-Faxes. Under LDAP authentication, users will only
