6. Using the Fax Function 3. Press the [ ][ ] keys to select [Off], [On], or [Next Fax Only], and then press the [OK] key. For Memory Transmission, select [Off]. For Immediate Transmission, select [On] or [Next Fax Only]. 4. Internet Fax Transmission Overview You can send faxes over the Internet. When you send faxes to Internet Fax destinations, the machine converts scanned images to TIFF-F format files and send them as attachments to e-mail. • The level of security for Internet communications is low. It is recommended that you use the telephone network for confidential communications. • Internet Fax delivery might be delayed due to network congestion. Use a public telephone line if the fax needs to be delivered in a timely manner. • The Internet Fax function supported by this machine is compliant with ITU-T Recommendation T.37 (Simple Mode). • To use the Internet Fax function, network settings must be configured properly. • Internet Fax transmission may take some time before it starts. The machine needs a certain amount of time to convert data in memory prior to transmission. • Depending on e-mail environment conditions, you may not be able to fax large images. • The "Photo" resolution is not available for Internet Faxes. Faxes will be sent using "Detail" resolution if "Photo" resolution has been specified. • If the faxes are received on a computer, a viewer application needs to be installed in order to view the documents. • For details about network settings, see p.330 "Configuring the Network Settings". 210
