I/O Module Removal and Replacement Procedures PCI Hot Plug is backward-compatible, although system components fit into one of two categories: hot-plug aware or non-hot-plug aware. The following three components are required in the server for complete PCI Hot Plug capability: • PCI Hot Plug system hardware (available in this server) • Operating system with PCI Hot Plug support (support levels vary) • PCI Hot Plug device drivers (available from operating system vendors, the HP SmartStart CD, HP website, and some individual hardware vendors) WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hazardous energy or damage to the equipment when working on energized servers: • Remove all watches, rings, and any other loose-fitting jewelry. • Avoid the use of conductive tools that could bridge live parts.
