CAUTION: The battery pack is a lithium ion battery, which can explode if not properly replaced, used, handled or disposed of. Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Use only batteries recommended by TOSHIBA as replacements. 1. Be sure the computer's power is off and all cables are disconnected. 2. Insert the battery pack. Starting the computer by password To start up the computer with the user password, follow these steps: 1. Turn on the power as described in Chapter 3, Getting Started. The following message appears: Password = CAUTION: At this point, the hotkeys Fn + F1 to F9 do not work. They will function after you enter the password. 6-15

Installing the battery pack
To install a battery pack, follow the steps below.
CAUTION:
The battery pack is a lithium ion battery, which can explode
if not properly replaced, used, handled or disposed of. Dispose of the
battery as required by local ordinances or regulations. Use only
batteries recommended by TOSHIBA as replacements.
1.
Be sure the computer’s power is off and all cables are disconnected.
2.
Insert the battery pack.

Push down the battery pack until it is firmly seated.
Starting the computer by password
To start up the computer with the user password, follow these steps:
1.
Turn on the power as described in Chapter 3, Getting Started. The following
message appears:
