Chapter 6 Maintenance The default configuration files are: • system-default.conf: This file contains all of the ZyWALL settings. If you apply this file, the ZyWALL's default IP address and password will be restored. • startup-config.conf: This is the configuration file that the ZyWALL is currently using. All the changes you have saved/applied in the Web Configurator or in CLI commands (when you use the write command) are applied to this file. • lastgood.conf: This is the most recently used (valid) configuration file that was saved when the device last restarted. If you upload and apply a configuration file with an error, you can apply lastgood.conf to return to a valid configuration. 6.4.1 What Can Go Wrong • You cannot upload system-default.conf or lastgood.conf. • During boot up, the ZyWALL first applies start-up.conf. If the application is successful, it will be copied into lastgood.conf. If the application fails, the ZyWALL will try to apply lastgood.conf. • If lastgood.conf.fails to apply, the ZyWALL will restore by using the system-default.conf file so that the device can boot up normally. 6.5 How to Manage ZyWALL Firmware Click Maintenance > File Manager > Firmware Package. The default configuration files are:
system-default.conf:
This file contains all of the ZyWALL settings. If you apply this file, the
ZyWALL’s default IP address and password will be restored.
startup-config.conf:
This is the configuration file that the ZyWALL is currently using. All the
changes you have saved/applied in the Web Configurator or in CLI commands (when you use the
write command) are applied to this file.
lastgood.conf:
This is the most recently used (valid) configuration file that was saved when the
device last restarted. If you upload and apply a configuration file with an error, you can apply
lastgood.conf to return to a valid configuration.

What Can Go Wrong
You cannot upload
system-default.conf
or
lastgood.conf
.
During boot up, the ZyWALL first applies
