Reset PRAM. 2. Connect a known-good HDMI/Mini DiplayPort display and cables, Power on the display first then power on the Mac mini. Launch System Preferences and select Sound/Output options. Verify that the HDMI /DisplayPort audio sound output option is available and selected. 3. Check that issue happens with every media type (some copy protected media may not be playable). 4. Check that customer is not using an additional HDMI to DVI adapter or Mini DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (some adapters may not carry the audio signals) 5. Check that customer verified his display volume level was above zero and not muted. 6. (HDMI) Check that customer verified that his HDMI display model audio compatibility ( early HDMI displays do not support audio, or only some audio modes) 7. Go to Deep Dive. Deep Dive Check 1.
