To enable shared access of tape drives by different hosts, you must use the same Lock Name for each instance of the same tape drive. In this example, drives "lpc7060_drive_1" and "lpc7062_drive_1" are configured with the same Lock Name, "drive_1". - Verify that SCSI Reserve/Release is NOT checked. This feature is meant to be used in place of the Lock Name or in conjunction with other software applications sharing the same tape libraries. Multiple applications on the same SAN are not supported. In addition, if an error occurs accessing a tape drive, the drive may be left reserved by the host and, therefore, unavailable from other servers. Once a tape drive is left reserved, manual intervention is required release it. - Verify that Use direct library access is NOT checked. This feature allows each host on the SAN to access the robotics directly. This is not supported. For higher available access to the robotics controller, the cell server and control of the tape library may be configured on a clustered server. 170 Omniback Configuration Chapter 7

Provide a common Lock Name for each tape drive.
To enable
shared access of tape drives by different hosts, you must use the same
Lock Name for each instance of the same tape drive. In this example,
drives “lpc7060_drive_1” and “lpc7062_drive_1” are configured
with the same Lock Name, “drive_1”.
Verify that
SCSI Reserve/Release
is NOT checked.
This feature is
meant to be used in place of the Lock Name or in conjunction with
other software applications sharing the same tape libraries. Multiple
applications on the same SAN are not supported. In addition, if an
error occurs accessing a tape drive, the drive may be left reserved by
the host and, therefore, unavailable from other servers. Once a tape
drive is left reserved, manual intervention is required release it.
Verify that
Use direct library access
is NOT checked.
This feature
allows each host on the SAN to access the robotics directly. This is not
supported. For higher available access to the robotics controller, the
cell server and control of the tape library may be configured on a
clustered server.
