Changing the Default Settings, FC Port Mode to N-Port Mode

Page 75 highlights

Changing the Default Settings In most cases, the default bridge configuration settings will be appropriate for operation in a tape library or MO jukebox. Table 14 on page 77 below lists the key Fibre Channel (FC) and SCSI default settings. These were chosen to provide broad connectivity to a variety of operating systems and HBAs. The default bridge configuration assumes there is only one bridge connected to a HBA. A bridge configuration change should be made when connecting the FC Bridge 4/1 HV or FC Bridge 2/1 LV directly to a switch port. Use the bridge's Fibre Channel Configuration menu to change the following setting: ■ FC Port Mode to N-Port Mode If connecting multiple FC bridges through a hub, you must change the FC address. These changes may be made by using the serial port of the bridge. If your operating system and FC HBA supports an alternative Fibre Channel-toSCSI mapping mode, you may wish to change this setting. If you are connecting the bridge to a switch, you may wish to change the FC port mode to F-port only. Chapter 4
Changing the Default Settings
In most cases, the default bridge configuration settings will be appropriate for
operation in a tape library or MO jukebox.
Table 14
on page 77 below lists
the key Fibre Channel (FC) and SCSI default settings. These were chosen to
provide broad connectivity to a variety of operating systems and HBAs.
The default bridge configuration assumes there is only one bridge connected to
a HBA. A bridge configuration change should be made when connecting the
FC Bridge 4/1 HV or FC Bridge 2/1 LV directly to a switch port. Use the
bridge's
Fibre Channel Configuration
menu to change the following setting:
FC Port Mode to N-Port Mode
If connecting multiple FC bridges through a hub, you must change the FC
address. These changes may be made by using the serial port of the bridge.
If your operating system and FC HBA supports an alternative Fibre Channel-to-
SCSI mapping mode, you may wish to change this setting. If you are
connecting the bridge to a switch, you may wish to change the FC port mode
to F-port only.
