For In-Band Management to be operational, World Wide Name

Page 85 highlights

Chapter 4 Note For In-Band Management to be operational, World Wide Name (WWN) schemes MUST be compliant with IEEE Fibre Channel Format 1, where the left-most hexadecimal character (the NAA field) of the WWN is '1'. Further, the upper nibble of the third byte (the sixth hexadecimal value from the right) must be a value of '0' or '1'. ■ Select 1) to enter a new value for the World Wide Name High. Ordinarily, this value should not be changed. ■ Select 2) to enter a new value for the World Wide Name Low. Ordinarily, this value should not be changed. ■ Select 3) to toggle the discovery mode among the following options: Auto Discovery on Reboot Events Auto Discovery on Link-Up Events Manual Discovery Only Discovery OFF Discovery mode determines how the bridge will discover new Fibre Channel devices. It enables the bridge to access Fibre Channel target devices. For use in a tape library or MO jukebox, the Discovery Off mode is the recommended and default setting. Auto Discovery allows the bridge to automatically discover all Fibre Channel devices when the bridge reboots or whenever link-up events occur, such as connecting cables or rebooting network hubs. Reboot Events will discover both the ports and the devices behind the ports. Link-up Events will discover both the ports and the devices behind the ports for the first link-up event. Subsequent link-up events will only discover the ports and not the devices behind the ports. Manual Discovery sets discovery of new devices to only occur after the user selects the "initiate FC discovery" option from the SCSI to Fibre Channel Configuration menu. With this option, the ports are discovered, but the devices behind the ports are not discovered. Discovery OFF is the same as Manual Discovery except it does not receive Registered State Change Notification (RSCN) from the fabric and thus does not initiate discoveries for state changes. Discovery OFF is the default setting for Discovery Mode. Perform Configuration 87 Chapter 4

Select 3)

Auto Discovery on Link-Up Events
Manual Discovery Only
Discovery OFF
Discovery mode
determines how the bridge will discover new Fibre
Channel devices. It enables the bridge to access Fibre Channel target
devices. For use in a tape library or MO jukebox, the Discovery Off mode
is the recommended and default setting.
Auto Discovery
allows the bridge to automatically discover all Fibre

occur, such as connecting cables or rebooting network hubs.
Reboot Events
will discover both the ports and the devices behind the
ports.
Link-up Events
will discover both the ports and the devices behind the ports

Manual Discovery
sets discovery of new devices to only occur after the
user selects the “initiate FC discovery” option from the SCSI to Fibre

but the devices behind the ports are not discovered.
Discovery OFF
is the same as Manual Discovery except it does not receive
Registered State Change Notification (RSCN) from the fabric and thus
does not initiate discoveries for state changes. Discovery OFF is the default
setting for Discovery Mode.
