Setting up DHCP over Bridge Interfaces HP bridges use two different interfaces which can be used to enable DHCP: Serial and Telnet, and HTTP. The following will describe how to enable and disable DHCP for each interface. Note Located on the back of the bridge, a MAC label displays the unit's Ethernet MAC address. A network administrator can then use this MAC address to setup a lease reservation on the DHCP server for the IP address of the bridge. This effectively allows the bridge to have a permanent IP address that is assigned by the DHCP server. Serial and Telnet Interfaces When the user turns on the bridge, the system reboots and displays the following Main menu on the hyperterminal window: HP Surestore Bridge FC 4/1 HV X.X XXXX 1) Perform Configuration 2) System Utilities 3) Display Trace and Assertion History 4) Reboot 5) Download a new revision of the firmware Command > Appendix D Setting up DHCP over Bridge Interfaces 237
