AC2000 802.11ac Wireless Access Point/Router WAC124 Access point mode: Internet LED is off If the access point/router is in its default access point mode and the Internet LEDs is off, check the following: • Make sure that the Ethernet cable connection is secure at the yellow WAN port (not a LAN port) of the access point/router and at an Ethernet port on the existing network router. In access point mode, do not connect the cable directly to an Internet modem. • Make sure that power is turned on to the connected network router and that the network router is connected to the Internet. • If the network router does not function as a DHCP server (this is very unusual), make sure that another DHCP server in the network is active. By default, the access point/router functions as a DHCP client and must receive an IP address from a network router or a DHCP server. When you connect the access point/router's WAN port to the network router, use a standard straight-through Ethernet cable or an Ethernet crossover cable. Router mode: Internet LED is off If the access point/router is in router mode and the Internet LEDs is off, check the following: • Make sure that you completed the initial log-in process in access point mode, that you changed the mode to router mode, and that you connected the access point/router to an Internet modem. For more information, see Use the access point/router in router mode on page 23. Only after you complete the initial log-in process in access point mode, can you change the mode to router mode. • If the WAN type of the Internet modem is PPPoE, L2TP, or PPTP, make sure that you configured the Internet settings correctly. For more information, see Router mode: Specify a PPPoE Internet connection that uses a login on page 42 or Router mode: Specify a PPTP or L2TP Internet connection that uses a login on page 44. • Make sure that the Ethernet cable connection is secure at the yellow WAN port (not a LAN port) of the access point/router and at an Ethernet port on the Internet modem. • Make sure that power is turned on to the connected Internet modem. When you connect the access point/router's WAN port to an Internet modem, use the cable that was supplied with the modem. This cable can be a standard straight-through Ethernet cable or an Ethernet crossover cable. Diagnostics and 244 Troubleshooting User Manual

Access point mode: Internet LED is off
If the access point/router is in its default access point mode and the Internet LEDs is off,
check the following:
Make sure that the Ethernet cable connection is secure at the yellow WAN port (
not
a LAN port) of the access point/router and at an Ethernet port on the existing network
router. In access point mode, do not connect the cable directly to an Internet modem.
Make sure that power is turned on to the connected network router and that the
network router is connected to the Internet.
If the network router does not function as a DHCP server (this is very unusual), make
sure that another DHCP server in the network is active. By default, the access
point/router functions as a DHCP client and must receive an IP address from a network
router or a DHCP server.
When you connect the access point/router’s WAN port to the network router, use a
standard straight-through Ethernet cable or an Ethernet crossover cable.
Router mode: Internet LED is off
If the access point/router is in router mode and the Internet LEDs is off, check the
following:
Make sure that you completed the initial log-in process in access point mode, that
you changed the mode to router mode, and that you connected the access
point/router to an Internet modem. For more information, see Use
the

on page 23. Only after you complete the initial log-in
process in access point mode, can you change the mode to router mode.
If the WAN type of the Internet modem is PPPoE, L2TP, or PPTP, make sure that you
configured the Internet settings correctly. For more information, see Router
