General Life Expectancy, Toner Cartridges

Page 26 highlights

General Life Expectancy Xerox warrants that the Toner Cartridges will be free of defects for a period of 1 year. All other Customer Replaceable Consumables are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 90 days from the date of installation, but not more than one (1) year from date of shipment. The life expectancy of the Imaging Units and Transfer Unit is determined by the number of times the rollers and drums are rotated. During normal operation, several events may occur that cycle the rollers and drums, slightly reducing the life expectancy. These include: ■ Opening and closing the top cover ■ Turning power off and then on ■ Frequently printing jobs less than 5 pages ■ Automatic two-sided printing ■ Printing on specialty media (transparencies, glossy paper, etc.) These events also slightly reduce the life expectancy of the Toner Cartridges. A small amount of toner is used each time the power is cycled, and when the top cover is opened and closed. More toner is consumed for small print jobs, two-sided prints, and specialty media, when compared to the toner used to produce the same number of pages printed from a single job using laser bond paper printed on one side. To help customers get the most prints from their Imaging Units, Transfer Unit, and Toner Cartridges, tell them to open and close the top cover only when necessary, and to leave the power turned on. They can also change their printing habits to extend the life of the consumable supplies. Toner Cartridges The Toner Cartridges are keyed to fit their corresponding Imaging Units. When the Toner Cartridge is shipped, it has a strip of tape across the bottom to prevent leakage and contamination. When the locking lever on the Toner Cartridge is moved to the locked position, it opens the gate along the bottom of the cartridge and dumps toner into the Imaging Unit. Front panel messages indicate when the Toner Cartridges are low or empty. The Error Messages and Codes section of the Phaser 7300 Color Printer Service Manual contains a comprehensive list of troubleshooting procedures for error messages that may appear on the Front Panel. page 22 PHASER 7300 CARE WORKSHEET 0

General Life Expectancy
The life expectancy of the Imaging Units and Transfer Unit is determined by the number of times
the rollers and drums are rotated. During normal operation, several events may occur that cycle
the rollers and drums, slightly reducing the life expectancy. These include:
Opening and closing the top cover
Turning power off and then on

These events also slightly reduce the life expectancy of the Toner Cartridges. A small amount of
toner is used each time the power is cycled, and when the top cover is opened and closed. More
toner is consumed for small print jobs, two-sided prints, and specialty media, when compared to
the toner used to produce the same number of pages printed from a single job using laser bond
paper printed on one side.
Toner Cartridges
The Toner Cartridges are keyed to fit their corresponding Imaging Units. When the Toner
Cartridge is shipped, it has a strip of tape across the bottom to prevent leakage and contamination.
When the locking lever on the Toner Cartridge is moved to the locked position, it opens the gate
along the bottom of the cartridge and dumps toner into the Imaging Unit. Front panel messages
indicate when the Toner Cartridges are low or empty.
Xerox warrants that the Toner Cartridges will be free of defects for a
period of 1 year. All other Customer Replaceable Consumables are
warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period
of 90 days from the date of installation, but not more than one (1) year from
date of shipment.
To help customers get the most prints from their Imaging Units, Transfer
Unit, and Toner Cartridges, tell them to open and close the top cover only
when necessary, and to leave the power turned on. They can also change
their printing habits to extend the life of the consumable supplies.
