Troubleshooting Paper Jams In this exercise, you will create a media jam, clear the jam, and locate the jam code in the printer's event history. To create the paper jam you must start the print process and quickly open the Top Cover. Once the paper jam occurs, you will use the Phaser 7300 Network Color Printer Service Manual to clear the jam and locate troubleshooting information. 1. Print the Startup Page: ■ At the Front Panel, select Printable Pages Menu, then press OK. ■ Scroll to Print Startup Page, then press OK. 2. Cause a jam and view the Front Panel message: ■ Wait until you hear the printer pick paper, then quickly open the Top Cover. A paper jam will occur. ■ Read the jam message on the Front Panel. ■ Close the Top Cover. ■ Record the Front Panel error message 3. Use the Front Panel to access jam troubleshooting information: ■ Press the information key. ■ Using the Up and Down Arrow keys, review the procedure to clear the jam. 4. Clear the media jam. 5. To determine how often paper jams and other errors have occurred, print the Usage Profile: ■ At the Front Panel, select Printable Pages Menu, then press OK. ■ Scroll to Print Usage Profile, then press OK. 6. Refer to the Error Messages and Codes section of the Phaser 7300 Color Printer Service Manual to look up the most recent error message recorded in the event history. Study the troubleshooting information for this error code, and the other jam errors.
