Page 30 highlights

Transfer Unit The Transfer Unit serves two functions. The belt charges the paper to transport it past the Imaging Units. The Transfer Unit also presses the paper against the Imaging Units so that toner is transferred to the paper. A Front Panel message indicates when to replace the Transfer Unit. Troubleshooting the Transfer Unit For troubleshooting procedures related to the Transfer Unit, refer to the troubleshooting chart and the print quality troubleshooting charts located at the end of this worksheet. The Error Messages and Codes section of the Phaser 7300 Color Printer Service Manual contains a comprehensive list of troubleshooting procedures for error messages that may appear on the Front Panel. Remove and Replace the Transfer Unit In this exercise, you will remove and replace the Transfer Unit. Refer to the Transfer Unit instruction sheet on the Phaser 7300 Customer Support Training CD-ROM for information on replacing the Transfer Unit. Using the Transfer Unit instruction sheet, remove and replace the Transfer Unit while observing the procedure closely. To save time, the Transfer Unit may be removed without first removing the Fuser. The instruction sheet indicates the Fuser should be removed to ensure there is adequate clearance for replacing the Transfer Unit. Transfer Unit life Expectancy The life expectancy of the Transfer Unit is up to 80,000 pages based on one-sided, five-page print jobs. Multiple short print jobs (less than 5 pages) reduce the life expectancy of the Transfer Unit. Life expectancy is also reduced each time the top cover is opened and closed, when the printer is turned off and then on, when printing on transparencies or specialty papers, and when making two-sided prints. Reset Consumable Counts The Fuser, Transfer Unit, and Imaging Units each contain a fuse that indicates to the printer if the supply is new or used: ■ Conductive fuse - printer determines the consumable is new ■ Blown fuse - printer determines the consumable is used page 26 PHASER 7300 CARE WORKSHEET 0
