Chapter 1 Getting to Know Your NSA Figure 1 Example of the NSA in a Home Network Above is the NSA in a home network. Users back up and share data on the NSA. The DMA-1000 plays the NSA's media files on the TV. A USB hard drive provides extra storage space and files are copied directly from the USB memory stick to the NSA. Place the NSA behind a firewall and/or IDP (Intrusion Detection and Prevention) device to protect it from attacks from the Internet. Note: See Chapter 15 on page 295 for a more detailed list of NSA features and lists of compatible hard drives and USB devices. Refer to the Quick Start Guide for hardware connections and how to install and remove hard drives from the disk trays.
