Taking Pictures 4, 5 1, 2 3 A x y Taking Pictures of Dark Scenes (Night Scene/Candlelight/Fireworks Mode) 4 You can choose settings appropriate for taking pictures of dark scenes, such as nightscapes. A Use this mode when taking pictures of night views. x This mode is ideal for capturing a candlelit atmosphere. y Use this mode to take spectacular pictures of fireworks. 1 Press the four-way controller (3) in A mode. The Capture Mode Palette appears. 2 Use the four-way controller (2345) to select A (Night Scene), x (Candlelight) or y (Fireworks). 3 Press the 4 button. The shooting mode is selected and the camera returns to capture status. 4 Press the shutter release button halfway. The focus frame turns green if the subject is in focus. 5 Press the shutter release button fully. The picture is taken. • The shutter speed is slower when taking pictures of dark scenes. • To prevent camera shake, use a tripod and the self-timer function. (1p.77) • The number of recorded pixels is set at 1280×960 in x mode. • You can assign the y mode to the Capture Mode Palette if it does not appear there already. (1p.57) • The sensitivity is set at 50 in y mode. 66
