Using font capture with OpenType fonts, Enabling font capture for inline fonts

Page 277 highlights

Using font capture with OpenType fonts Font capture allows a printer to capture a downloaded font and treat it as if it were a printer-resident font. Treating a downloaded font as a printer-resident font improves performance for future jobs that use the same fonts. Printers retain captured fonts across job boundaries and power cycles. Captured fonts can be deleted from the printer when additional space is required. Because OpenType fonts are large, you might want to make sure that your InfoPrint printer is set to support font capture. If you want to capture OpenType fonts that reside in a library on a particular drive, click the Font Installer's Capture check box. (far right column of the Top pane) for each font that you want to capture. For more information, see the Resource Installer online help system. Note: Do not capture sensitive fonts, such as signatures, because an unauthorized person could access the captured font, even from another system. Enabling font capture for inline fonts If the jobs that you run through your system use the same fonts, you might want to enable your actual destination to capture inline font resources. These inline fonts must have an object identifier (OID) so InfoPrint can capture them. Note: For many systems, this procedure is not recommended because captured inline fonts can be deleted when your printer needs more storage. If InfoPrint Manager cannot access these fonts, the jobs can either fail or print incorrectly. From the InfoPrint Manager Administration GUI: 1. Click the actual destination and select Printer → Properties. 2. From the actual destination's Printer Properties notebook, click Tuning. 3. Find the Capture inline OTF resources radio button. If you can't see it, click Show more. 4. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the Yes radio button for the Capture inline OTF resources setting. Using multiple fonts with limited printer memory When you are using the OpenType fonts and you receive the Out of memory error message, you can decrease the Maximum fonts to keep configuration item for InfoPrint Manager or increase the size of the character cache from the Printer console. To decrease the number of Maximum fonts to keep, complete these steps: 1. Right-click the actual destination in the InfoPrint Manager GUI and click Properties. 2. Click Tuning. 3. Find and change the Maximum fonts to keep value to a smaller number, such as 5. To increase the character cache size from the Printer's console, complete these steps: 1. Click Printer Definition. Using font capture with OpenType fonts
Font capture allows a printer to capture a downloaded font and treat it as if it
were a printer-resident font. Treating a downloaded font as a printer-resident font
improves performance for future jobs that use the same fonts. Printers retain
captured fonts across job boundaries and power cycles. Captured fonts can be
deleted from the printer when additional space is required. Because OpenType
fonts are large, you might want to make sure that your InfoPrint printer is set to
support font capture.
If you want to capture OpenType fonts that reside in a library on a particular
drive, click the Font Installer's
Capture
check box. (far right column of the Top
pane) for each font that you want to capture. For more information, see the
Resource Installer online help system.
Note:
Do not capture sensitive fonts, such as signatures, because an unauthorized
person could access the captured font, even from another system.
Enabling font capture for inline fonts
If the jobs that you run through your system use the same fonts, you might want
to enable your actual destination to capture inline font resources. These inline fonts
must have an object identifier (OID) so InfoPrint can capture them.
Note:
For many systems, this procedure is not recommended because captured
inline fonts can be deleted when your printer needs more storage. If InfoPrint
Manager cannot access these fonts, the jobs can either fail or print incorrectly.
From the
InfoPrint Manager Administration GUI
:
1.
Click the actual destination and select
Printer
Properties
.
2.
From the actual destination's
Printer Properties
notebook, click
Tuning
.
3.
Find the
Capture inline OTF resources
radio button. If you can't see it, click
Show more
.
4.
Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select the
Yes
radio button for the
Capture inline OTF resources
setting.
Using multiple fonts with limited printer memory
When you are using the OpenType fonts and you receive the
Out of memory
error
message, you can decrease the
Maximum fonts to keep
configuration item for
InfoPrint Manager or increase the size of the character cache from the Printer
console.
To decrease the number of
Maximum fonts to keep
, complete these steps:
1.
Right-click the actual destination in the InfoPrint Manager GUI and click
Properties
.
2.
Click
Tuning
.
3.
Find and change the
Maximum fonts to keep
value to a smaller number, such
as

To increase the character cache size from the Printer's console, complete these
steps:
1.
Click
