ENGLISH The Camera : Preparation Formatting a Memory Card ✤ You can use the FORMAT function to completely delete all still images/motion clips and options on the Memory Card, including protected still images/motion clips. ✤ The format function restores the Memory Card to its initial state. ✤ The Memory Stick supplied with this camcorder has been formatted already. 1. Turn your camera on by setting the Power Switch to (CAMERA) mode. 2. Press the MENU button. The top menu including (SET) is displayed. 3. Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select (SET), then press the DOWN button. The submenu including "FORMAT" is displayed. 4. Press the DOWN or UP button to select "FORMAT", then press the RIGHT button. The available options are listed: YES and NO. 5. Highlight your option by pressing the DOWN or UP button, then press the OK button. 6. If "YES" is selected, message "FORMAT:OK" appears on the LCD monitor. If "OK" is selected, message "PLEASE WAIT" appears on the LCD monitor and then "FORMAT DONE" appears when the format is completed. Reference ✤ If you execute the FORMAT function, all still images/motion clips will be erased completely and erased still images/motion clips cannot be recovered. ✤ Formatting the memory card using a different device will cause memory card read errors. ✤ Formatting the memory card deletes all the stored data in the memory card. ✤ Do not turn the power off in the middle of the formatting. 84

The Camera : Preparation
You can use the FORMATfunction to completely delete all still images/motion clips and options
on the Memory Card, including protected still images/motion clips.
The format function restores the Memory Card to its initial state.
The Memory Stick supplied with this camcorder has been formatted already.
1.
Turn your camera on by setting the Power Switch to
(CAMERA) mode.
2.
Press the MENU button.
The top menu including
(SET) is displayed.
3.
Press the LEFT or RIGHT button to select
(SET), then press the DOWN button.
The submenu including
"FORMAT" is displayed.
4.
Press the DOWN or UP button to select
"FORMAT",
then press the RIGHT button.
The available options are listed: YES and NO.
5.
Highlight your option by pressing the DOWN or UP button, then press the OK button.
6.
If "YES" is selected, message "FORMAT:OK" appears on the LCD monitor.
If “OK” is selected, message “PLEASE WAIT” appears on the LCD monitor and then
"FORMAT DONE" appears when the format is completed.
If you execute the FORMAT function, all still images/motion clips will be erased completely and
erased still images/motion clips cannot be recovered.
Formatting the memory card using a different device will cause memory card read errors.
