Media and tray 9 Loading originals You can use the scanner glass or the document feeder to load an original for copying, scanning, and sending a fax. 1 Lift and open the scanner lid. Illustrations on this user's guide may differ from your machine depending on its options or models. Check your machine type (see "Front view" on page 21). On the scanner glass Using the scanner glass, you can copy or scan originals. You can get the best scan quality, especially for colored or gray-scaled images. Loading originals
You can use the scanner glass or the document feeder to load an original for
copying, scanning, and sending a fax.
Illustrations on this user’s guide may differ from your machine depending
on its options or models. Check your machine type (see "Front view" on
page 21).
On the scanner glass
Using the scanner glass, you can copy or scan originals. You can get the best
scan quality, especially for colored or gray-scaled images.
Make sure that no
originals are in the document feeder. If an original is detected in the document
feeder, the machine gives it priority over the original on the scanner glass.

Lift and open the scanner lid.
