104 3 Server Blades: Setup and Installation Acer Smart Console Server Blade Unit management may be performed with the Smart Console. The Smart Console residing in each server blade can be accessed via the Acer Smart Blade Console or Acer Smart Blade Manager. This is designed to provide an administrator with a comprehensive set of functions and monitored data to keep tabs on the server blade and perform management activities. • Provides remote Hardware Health Monitoring via IPMI. Key features include the following: • Temperature monitoring • Fan speed monitoring • Voltage monitoring • Power status monitoring, chassis intrusion monitoring • Remote power control to power-on, power-off or reboot a system • Remote access to text-based, graphic-based system information, including BIOS configurations and OS operation information (KVM) • Remote management of utility/software applications • Provides Network Management Security via remote access/console redirection. Key features include: • User authentication enhancement • Encryption support enhancement, allowing for password configuration security to protect sensitive data transferring via Serial over LAN • Supports the following Management tools: Acer Smart Blade Manager, CLI (Command Line Interface) • RMCP+ protocol supported Configuring BMC the IPMI Settings With the BMC Controller chip built into the server blade unit allows the user to access, monitor, manage and interface with systems in remote locations.
