A Routine maintenance A Replacing the consumable items A You must replace the consumable items when the machine indicates that the life of the consumable is over. You can replace the following consumable items by yourself: Using non-Brother supplies may affect the print quality, hardware performance, and machine reliability. NOTE • The drum unit and toner cartridge are two separate parts. • The drum unit and toner cartridge are two separate consumables. Make sure both are installed as an assembly. If the toner cartridge is placed in the machine without the drum unit, the message Drum ! may be displayed. Toner cartridge See Replacing the toner cartridges on page 75.
