4-1 Chapter 4 Installing Hardware Components This chapter is divided into two major parts as follows: s Accessing Non Hot-Plug Areas - you must shut down the server power and remove the power cord(s) from the power supplies in order to install options, upgrades or replacements in the following areas: t Intel Pentium II Xeon Processors t Memory board and sockets t System board t Peripheral board t Drive cage backplane board t One shared PCI/ISA slot t Six PCI slots t Fans t Power supply lock t Integrated Management Display (tower model only) t Duplex drive cage s Accessing Hot-Plug Areas - you can install hot-plug options, including hot-plug power supplies and SCSI hard drives, and upgrades or replacements without shutting down the power in the SCSI drive bay area. NOTE: The illustrations in this chapter may vary slightly depending on whether you have a tower model or rack model.
