5-3 Compaq System Configuration Utility The Compaq System Configuration utility performs a wide range of configuration activities including the following: s Configures ISA and PCI boards automatically s Provides switch and jumper settings s Resolves resource conflicts in areas such as memory, port addresses, and interrupts (IRQs) s Manages the installation of memory, processor upgrades, and mass storage devices such as hard drives, tape drives, and diskette drives s Sets and stores power-on features such as date and time s Stores configuration information in non-volatile memory s Assists in the installation of the operating system s Assists in running diagnostic tools such as TEST and INSPECT Utilities Installing an Operating System Compaq ProLiant 5500 servers support the following operating systems: s Novell NetWare 4.11 and IntranetWare s Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 and 4.0 s SCO OpenServer 5.04 and 5.05 s SCO UnixWare 2.12 and 2.13 s IBM OS/2 2.x, Warp family of products s Banyan VINES v 6.00 and above, including VINES 7.00 When you select the Operating System Installation feature from the System Configuration Utility main menu, the utility provides prompts to simplify the installation. First, the utility prompts you to select the correct operating system. Use the arrow keys to select the operating system and press the Enter key.
