Chapter 4 Removing and Replacing Parts This chapter provides procedures for removing the components, assemblies, and subassemblies in the system unit. Unless otherwise noted, each procedure assumes the following: • You have performed the steps in "Precautionary Measures" found later in this chapter. • You have removed the computer covers. • You can replace or reinstall a part by performing the removal procedure in reverse order unless additional information is provided. Recommended Tools Most of the procedures in this chapter require the use of one or more of the following tools: • Small flat-blade screwdriver • Wide flat-blade screwdriver • Number 1 and number 2 Phillips-head screwdrivers • Chip-removal tool • 1/4-inch nutdriver • Tweezers or long-nose pliers • Small plastic scribe Also, use a wrist grounding strap as explained in the next section, "Precautionary Measures."
