Installing the Diskette and CD-ROM
Drives
9-7
3.
Attach the cable on the interposer card to the back of the diskette drive (see Fig-
ure 9-6).
NOTE: The connectors on the interposer card cable must be oriented correctly to
connect the diskette drive and the interposer card. Note the position of the elec-
trical contacts on the connectors to ensure that you are connecting the cable
correctly.
4.
Remove the front bezel.
See ²Removing the Front Bezel³ in Chapter 7.
5.
Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, detach the control panel from the front of the
chassis and fold the control panel to the right of the diskette drive slot.
6.
Insert the diskette drive assembly into the diskette drive slot.
Position the flat side of the diskette drive bracket against the wall on the left of
the diskette drive slot. Slowly slide the assembly into the chassis with the bracket
flat against the slot wall. When the assembly extends into the chassis approxi-
mately 2 inches, the edges of the bracket should start engaging into slide tracks
on the slot wall. If the bracket does not engage the tracks, remove the assembly
and try again. Be sure to keep the bracket as flat against the left wall as possible
when inserting the diskette drive assembly.
7.
Attach the diskette drive interface and power cables to the interposer card at the
back of the diskette drive bracket.
Refer to ²Connecting the Drive,³ found earlier in this chapter, for information
about attaching the interface and power cables.
8.
Reattach the control panel to the chassis.
9.
Replace the front bezel.
10.
Reconnect the computer and peripherals to their electrical outlets, and turn them
on.
11.
Test the diskette drive to verify that it is functioning properly.
